Dubai developer Emaar Properties will delay the opening of Burj Dubai, the world's tallest tower, by one month to January 4, it said in a statement on Wednesday.

The opening has already been delayed for about a year, but will now mark the day when ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum took office four years ago, the company's chairman Mohamed Alabbar said in a statement.

Alabbar said in October the tower would open on the United Arab Emirates National Day -- December 2.
