Nakheel launches 'The Universe' in Dubai
Dubai-based Nakheel has announced plans to develop a new cluster of artificial islands called 'The Universe'. The project will feature islands in the shape of the sun, moon and other planets.
The man-made, coral-shaped islands will be located off Dubai's coast between the Palm Jumeirah and Palm Deira, two major projects being developed by Nakheel.
Nakheel did not provide the cost of the project, which was unveiled at the launch of Nakheel's Blue Communities sustainability initiative. It will take 15 to 20 years to complete The Universe.
"The development will create new luxury living space, commercial opportunities and additional coastline," Nakheel said.
The project will cover an area of 3,000 hectares and include residential, commercial and tourism developments.
